We hope you will join us in Portland, Oregon for the SETAC North

America (SNA) 46th Annual Meeting!

Carolinas SETAC (CSETAC) will meet as a Regional Chapter

on Monday, November 17th at 4-5pm in room D135

In preparation for the SNA annual meeting, we would like to highlight the involvement of many of our CSETAC members at the SNA level:

ree

Long-time CSETAC member, Katy Chung (NOAA NCCOS) has served on the SNA Board of Directors for the last three years, providing a valuable government perspective to help balance the multisectoral board.

ree

Our very own CSETAC Treasurer, Michele Harmon (University of South Carolina-Aiken) sits on the SNA Board of Directors and has been selected to serve as the Treasurer for SNA. Michele will be hosting a poster session 1.07-P "Environmental Science Education" on Wednesday at the annual meeting.

ree

Alan Jones (BASF) sits on the SNA Board of Directors and has been selected to serve as the Treasurer for the SETAC World Council. Alan was previously a CSETAC student member during his graduate studies at Clemson, and we are glad he is now back in the Carolinas.

Many CSETAC students are involved in the North America Student Advisory Council (NASAC). NASAC is an affinity group that exists to represent student interests at the national level and plan student initiatives to increase engagement across SNA. Currently, the entire NASAC leadership team is composed of CSETAC students! Bonnie, Katie, and Jessica have all attended CSETAC meetings as students and are advised by CSETACers Dr. Geoff Scott, Dr. Austin Gray, and Dr. Joe Bisesi, respectively.

ree

Bonnie Ertel (University of South Carolina- Columbia) has served as the NASAC Chair, with a voting position on the SNA Board of Directors for the past year. At the Portland meeting, Bonnie will step into the Outgoing Chair position, but she plans to stay engaged within SNA and CSETAC.

ree

Katie Irhin (Virginia Tech) has served as the NASAC Vice Chair, with an ex-officio position on the SNA Board of Directors for the past year. At the Portland meeting, Katie will be stepping into the Chair position.

ree

Jessica Donaldson (University of Florida) has been selected to serve as the incoming NASAC Vice Chair. At the Portland meeting, Jessica will be stepping into the Vice Chair position.

ree

CSETAC annually selects two involved students to serve as Regional Chapter Representatives, which includes a voting position in NASAC. This year, our student representatives are Alex Larson (College of Charleston) and

ree

Aleisha Whipple (Appalachian State University). These two students will provide input to student initiatives and serve as a voice for CSETAC students at the national level.

ree

CSETAC student Lola Renauer (University of South Carolina- Columbia) was a former student representative who has stayed active in NASAC by serving as the Student Lunch Seminar Chair for the Annual Meeting. Lola is also serving as the Local Organizing Chair for the upcoming Young Environmental Scientists (YES) Meeting.

ree

This YES Meeting is free and open to all students and early-career (<3 years post-graduation) scientists - more information here.

This year, CSETAC was able to provide two students with Dr. Pat McClellan-Green Student Travel Awards to support attendance at the national meeting. Awards were given to Jessica Donaldson and Alex Larson, who will be presenting their research in Portland.

If you are not able to make it to the Portland meeting, we hope you will join us for our next CSETAC Regional Chapter Meeting in the spring- stay tuned for more details to come soon!
